Halloween Cocktails: The Year of the Zombie

EyeballCocktailRed Eye Martini

Wash a radish, trim the crown off so as to leave an exposed white area the same diameter as your olives. Using a small sharp knife, carve out an olive-sized hole. Partially peel the radish, going for a venous and broken-capillary look. Pop an olive in the hole, pimento-stuffing poking out, and use the radish to garnish a martini. Visual Step by Step
Basic Gin Martini: 1 ounce dry vermouth, 3 ounces gin
Basic Vodka Martini: 1 oz vermouth, 3 oz chilled vodka

Bloody Brain Shooter

  • BloodyBrainShooter1 1/4 oz. chilled strawberry vodka
  • 1/8 oz. Rose’s lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • Splash of grenadine
  • Straw

Add chilled vodka and lime juice to a shaker, shake and strain into a shot glass. Dip a straw into the Bailey’s, capping the straw with your finger to keep the liquid in the straw. Dip the straw tip into the vodka and slowly release your top finger. The Bailey’s will curdle a little bit due to the lime juice and you should be able to make strands of Bailey’s. Repeat the straw/Bailey’s process to build a “brain” in the shot glass. Add a splash of grenadine to the concoction to add the ‘blood’ to the mix.
