These classic tiki cocktails are guaranteed to help you beat the heat this summer! Now, we admit – the history, arguments of alleged authenticity and variations of all the tiki cocktail recipes out there made our heads spin, but here are some delicious, refreshing drinks that will put a smile on your face in no time!
The Mai Tai
– 2 ounces aged rum
– 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
– 1/2 ounce Orange Curaçao
– 1/4 ounce rock candy syrup (rich simple syrup)
– 1/4 ounce Orgeat almond syrup
– Cup of ice
– Mint Sprig and lime rind for garnish
What You Do:
Combine all ingredients except the mint sprig in a cocktail shaker, shake vigorously, and pour the entire contents into a double Old Fashioned glass. Garnish with the juiced lime half and a mint sprig.
The Painkiller
– 2 ounces navy or dark rum
– 2-4 ounces pineapple juice, depending on preference
– 1 ounce orange juice
– 1 ounce cream of coconut
– Nutmeg and pineapple for garnish
What You Do:
Pour ingredients (except nutmeg) into cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into double Old Fashioned glass filled with ice. Garnish with nutmeg and pineapple.
