Hello Folks :)

One thing I would add to this article is be prepared to spend some time DAILY marketing yourself online. It's great to be on all the social networks but it takes quite a bit of time to manage your message effectively.
A great way to make sure you touch everyone is to use a working email list and send out a weekly newsletter. There are numerous newsletter programs available and for the braver girls out there operating a custom website there are some very good newsletter programs for little or no cost.

Love what you do!

We love helping other black or african american pinups find their way in the alternative or pinup modeling world, so we clearly remember finding some of her very first pinup pictures and youtube tutorials (for doing pinup styles with natural hair) and passing them along to our facebook fans (which celebrates black or african american pinups and black alternative models - as well as our "vintage" black pinups of the past -- yes they existed!). Sure enough she was soon one of our fan favorite black pinups and looks like she's well on her way! Lovely interview and article. Cheers to Angelique Noire on the write up! xoxo- TokenBlackGirls.com

Thanks for this - from a "pro" photographer's perspective. I was relieved to see that I'm pretty well doing most of what you're suggesting, and believe me, it's just as frustrating for those of us who do to have to contend with shooters who don't. Pretty well every performer I've emailed or talked to about my images, BTW, has been thoroughly professional, a pleasure to meet and a lot of fun to shoot. Your list is pretty consistent with what I have to work to when working with other performers, as well.

Another suggestion - not directly related to etiquette, but more to maintaining an image - might be for performers to go through their photos on Facebook, their sites, and elsewhere, and ask themselves your questions 1 and 2 from the first list, and consider that in some cases less is more. When the good shots are buried among the not-so-good ones, they have a lot less impact. Just a thought, and again, thanks for this. It should be required reading for every shooter.
