When I dreamed up a magazine that would celebrate the local pin-up and burlesque scene in Texas, I never imagined how far that scene would come.  What an amazing year 2009 was!

Pin Curl started as a monthly online publication with five or so articles each issue.  I strived to not only feature great interview with local performers and pin-up models, but also provide a forum for DIY projects, costume making, artists, beauty tips, advice columns- just about everything vintage.  I wanted to give readers the alternative women’s magazine I never had as a kid.  Each issue grew as more and more ladies began to lend a helping hand.  Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas, questions, articles, photographs, and interviews.  You ladies rock!  This magazine is for you; created by women, for women.

As the online popularity of Pin Curl caught on, I started to receive at least an email a week requesting a hard copy print edition.  Thus, the birth of The Best of Pin Curl, a print edition that is released twice annually, with the first edition published in Dec 2009.

So with such an amazing 2009, what can 2010 bring?  More of everything you love in Pin Curl as well as some new surprises, like sponsored events that bring the local community togther as well as glitzy events featuring the biggest events in the biz.  It is because of you, the dedicated reader that we can continue to grow, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I hope you enjoy reading the first issue of the new year as much as I enjoyed creating it.
